"That's Bond, James Bond"!
Published on August 18, 2005 By foreverserenity In Entertainment
I was just reading an article about Pierce Brosnan, the current, er make that the most recent actor to play James Bond. He's been released from the role just as all the other actors before him...Roger Moore, Sean Connery, and that other guy.....Timothy Dalton...sorry he didn't even last that long as a Bond. I know there was one other before Roger Moore...George Lazenby, but Roger Moore is where my memories of James Bond started!

I've also been recently watching James Bond re-runs on Channel 47 in my area...i.e., AMC. So far they're on the movies starring Sean Connery. I really enjoy re-watching them. I really like these three Bond men, Roger Moore, Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan. If I had to pick only one, I would choose Pierce Brosnan. He was so suave and debonair in the role of the ladies man! Plus good looking to boot! And I've loved him since Remington Steele! I have fond memories of my mom and I watching that show on television.

So I have two questions.

1) Who was your favourite James Bond?

2) Who should be the next James Bond? (here's the list of the actors being considered)

Clive Owen
Christian Bale
Ewan McGregor
Orlando Bloom
Jude Law

I've answered who my favourite is but I have to think some more on who the next one should be!

My favorite is Connery. I think the next one should at least be British. Christian Bale isn't, is he?

I think the series needs a make over first.
I can't stand the movies where Bronson was Bond, but now that I think about it he was ok in the role but the movies went for more Flash and action during his Bond.

They need to stop trying to have each movie bigger and with more explosives.

Sean Connery, but Pierce Brosnan was number 2.

Ewan McGregor maybe, but not Orlando Bloom!  He caused the destruction of Troy!

there is but one bond and sean connery is his name, all the others are pretenders to the throne.

Colin Ferrel would make a good bond.
on Aug 18, 2005

Connery
Moore
Dalton
Bronson

If a new one had to be picked, Ewan McGregor, would be made for the role as 007

No

Now that I think about it

Bronson sucked.
He was too perfect. Perfect in that the guy looks like a male model. When I watched him in the movies I remember thinking how can this guy hit hit byt that ..such and such... he's perfect.

Connery was handsome but not perfect which made him have a tinge of vulnerability.
Couple that with his personality on screen and you got best bond.

I grew up with Roger Moore, so he's the one that I compare others to.  Each Bond actor has their own charm, but ask me today and I'll say Moore.

Timothy Dalton was underrated.  "The Living Daylights" was one of the most entertaining of all of the movies.  I doubt that he would have lasted long in the role however, his Bond was rapidly losing the battle with a receding hairline.

George Lazenby starred in what might have been the best of all the movies.  I wonder whether it was good because of him, or in spite of him.  Of course Diana Rigg in 1969 is as good as anyone to have as a Bond girl at the time.  (If I am in the right mood, I'll cry when she dies at the end of the movie.)

My personal favorite of all the movies is "Tomorrow Never Dies."  I think that the music made that one so good.  The one after that one was okay, but this last one was a real turkey.  There was way too much stuff happening in that one.

My favorite for the next Bond would be Ewan MacGregor.  I think that people would really buy into him as Bond.

Whomever they choose, I hope that they get going on the next installment of the series!

Connery was good wasn't he? I'm not sure. I thought they all were.

A makeover to less flashiness? I dunno, that's part of what makes it all exciting. They did make it that way with Pierce didn't they. I guess to go with the times!

Sean Connery, but Pierce Brosnan was number 2.

Ok.

Ewan McGregor maybe, but not Orlando Bloom! He caused the destruction of Troy!

hahaha...that was a good movie wasn't it?! He was such a coward in that role!

I love Pierce but I think I have to agree...after watching him again!

Colin Ferrel would make a good bond.

I really had hope he would have been on the list! He would have been perfect!

OK. I'm still out on the next one. But he wouldn't be a bad choice.

hahaha...but this is exactly what made him a great Bond! We all saw him as the suave and debonair guy who could do it all. I do concede your point though. (sorry Pierce!) (as if he's going to be reading this!)

I really have to agree with you on this too! Sean you're chaning my mind....(but I still love Pierce hehee)

Agreed!

OK, you're the second to choose him. I agreed then and I think so but still haven't made up my mind on that yet.

Yes, most definately. It does make for good entertainment![

Oh yeah, see what happens when our memories began with Roger Moore!

Bond movies shouldn't be action movies.
The orinal pre Bronson movies had enough action mixed with mystery and coolness.

'Tomorrow never Dies' was one of the worst cookie cutter movies ever to have 007 tag.- Yuk

Brosnan.  Bronson is no bond!

Sean Connery, but Pierce Brosnan was number 2.

My sentiments exactly.

I think Colin Farrell would have made an excellent next Bond. Too bad he didn't make the list.
on Aug 18, 2005
Colin Farrell does not have the Charisma to pull off Bond
Orlando Bloom maybe in about 10 years

"Bronson is no Bond"

Are we overlooking the idea of Bronson (Pinchot) as 007?

I laughed my ass off at "Blame it on the Bellboy."
